Create and manage course pages

Overview

Course Pages are custom content pages you create to organize course information beyond the main syllabus. Use them for assignment guidelines, grading rubrics, classroom policies, resource libraries, FAQs, or any content you want students to find in your course.

Before you start

  • You must be on the teaching team.
  • Course pages are organized under Syllabus in the course menu.

Create a new course page

  1. Open your course.
  2. Select Syllabus from the course navigation.
  3. Select Add Page, + New Page, or Create Page.
  4. Enter a Page Title (e.g., "Assignment Guidelines", "Classroom Policies", "Resources").
  5. In the Content editor:
    • Type or paste your page content using the Rich Text Editor.
    • Use formatting buttons (bold, italic, lists, links, images) to structure content.
    • Paste images or upload files as needed.
  6. Optionally configure:
    • Visibility — visible to all students, or restrict to specific sections
    • Order — where the page appears in the syllabus menu
  7. Select Save or Publish.

Your page is now part of the course syllabus.

Edit a course page

  1. Open the Syllabus and locate the page you want to edit.
  2. Select Edit or the pencil icon next to the page title.
  3. Update the Title or Content.
  4. Modify visibility or order settings if needed.
  5. Select Save or Update.

Changes take effect immediately for students.

Organize pages

Reorder pages in the syllabus

  1. Open Syllabus.
  2. Locate the page order area (often with drag handles or arrows).
  3. Drag pages to reorder, or use up/down arrows.
  4. Select Save to confirm the new order.

Pages appear in your syllabus menu in the order you set.

Create sections or hierarchies

Some course designs let you group related pages:

  1. In Syllabus, look for Create Folder or Add Section.
  2. Name the folder (e.g., "Assignments", "Policies").
  3. Drag pages into the folder, or create new pages inside it.

This helps organize large syllabi and improves navigation.

Set section-specific visibility

If your course uses Sections, you can restrict page access:

  1. Edit the Page.
  2. Look for Visibility or Restrict to Section.
  3. Select which section(s) should see the page.
  4. Save.

Only students in those sections will see the page.

Add content to pages

Use the Rich Text Editor to:

  • Bold, italic, or strikethrough text
  • Create bulleted or numbered lists
  • Add headings to break up content
  • Create tables for structured info

Add images

  1. In the content editor, select the Insert Image button.
  2. Upload an image from your computer, or paste a URL.
  3. Add alt text for accessibility.
  4. Adjust size if options appear.
  5. Select Insert.

Add files or attachments

  1. Select the Attach File or + File button.
  2. Choose a file from your computer (PDF, Word doc, Excel sheet, etc.).
  3. Add a label or description.
  4. Select Attach or Upload.

Students can download the file from the page.

  1. Highlight the text you want to make a link.
  2. Select Link or press Ctrl+K / Cmd+K.

Troubleshooting

SituationWhat to try
Can't find Syllabus in the course menuConfirm you're on the teaching team. Syllabus may be hidden if not yet configured.
Page won't saveCheck for unsaved formatting or incomplete links. Try clearing your browser cache and retrying.
Image not showingConfirm the image file is supported (JPG, PNG, GIF). If you pasted a URL, verify it's still accessible.
File attachment not downloadingRe-upload the file; try a different file format if the issue persists.
Student can't see the pageConfirm the page is published (not in draft). Check section-visibility settings if using sections.
Page order keeps changingClick Save after reordering. Some browsers need a refresh to confirm.
Link not workingCheck that the URL is complete and spelled correctly (including https://).
Rich text disappearedPasting from Word or Google Docs sometimes causes issues. Try pasting as plain text instead, then reformat.
